When Samuel Taylor Coleridge wrote, there's "water, water, every where" in his poem, "The Rime of the ancient Mariner", his opinion was far from uplifting. But here in the mountains, we have a different outlook. Whether from the generous spring rains, the abundant lakes and streams, or even the sparkling winter snowfall, at Saranac Mountain Hearth, we see the heart of our products within every drop.
Throughout the year, we collect water from here in the Adirondacks for use in our products. In the winter months, we gather and melt fresh snow, but as the weather warms, we switch to clean spring water.
After collection, we purify our locally sourced water to remove the natural acidity and organic compounds. To ensure the purest product, we steam distill and carbon filter all of our collected water.
Because our personal care products are produced in-house, you can be sure that if we include water, your skin is being hydrated with the aid of the Adirondack Mountains!
Why is "Adirondack Water" not listed on your packaging?
We would love to include "Adirondack Water" in the ingredient lists you find on our packaging, but this wording is prohibited by United States law. With regards to our product labeling, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires us to use only the terminology listed in the CTFA (Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association, Inc.) Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary, and unfortunately, "Adirondack Water" is not an option.
